Lync Aronson for City Council | 2026 By-Election
Lync Aronson

Lync Aronson

For City Council.

Protecting household budgets, freezing bureaucracy, and delivering core services to a first-world standard without selling assets.

Lync Aronson, a community leader in Dunedin.

Stopping the Architects of High Rates

"Many of the former councillors, the architects of high spending and rates, are lining up to take their jobs back, and the city cannot afford them. Everyone else is running on their past titles. I am running on 10 years of proven governance experience, fresh energy, and optimism for Dunedin's future."

The failed spending experiments of past councils blew the budget, and Dunedin ratepayers will carry that debt for decades. Right now, the city can only afford essential spending. Like any household right now, we must cut our cloth differently.

I’ll vote to protect household budgets, freeze bureaucracy, cut red tape, and deliver core services to a first-world standard—getting clean water in and bad water out, without selling assets. I will support these basics over seesaws and street furniture, while still protecting our city's social fabric such as our parks, community halls, and libraries.

After my strong showing as a first-time independent in the 2025 election, I proudly chose to work on the DCC front line in customer service to continue serving our people. Together with my governance roles as Dunedin Community House Chairperson and President of Brain Injury NZ, I bring real-world experience to the table.

I am running for the vacant seat in the 2026 by-election. Vote Lync Aronson #1.

Proof It Can Be Done

This isn't just a theory. Just this year, Whanganui District Council delivered a rates rise of just 2.2%. Their mayor said it's because they started a long-term plan to drive down costs and improve efficiency. It proves that with real leadership and a smart financial strategy, we can break the cycle of endless high rate hikes.
